It might be car no.12, but it’s a reshell, apparently wrong seats and its lost its original number plate, but otherwise original...

Don't let the owner see you slating it, he gets very upset and threatens all sorts of retaliation

Interesting read.

For any other newbies like me this is the summary;

The shell was never changed. A Cherry red 1960 Morris Mini Minor was owned by a chap in Hull. The same chap owned the buff log book for an Austin reg number 4600 DS. He wanted to sell that number. In order to do that he had to MOT the number, as he had no car to go with it he put a new vin plate and engine number on the Cherry Red Morris, MOT'd that and removed the plate. What is left 19 years later is that 1960 Morris with the id from that buff log book.

Personally I don't see what the issue is, the seller has declared what it is and anyone who buys it know what they are getting.

I read through some of the older threads and some of the comments from the rivet counters were thoroughly depressing.

Live and let live, who could honestly say if they owned this car and wanted to sell it they wouldn't be doing exactly the same, at least he is honest and not trying to pass it off to an unsuspecting mug as something its not.

Think the issue is the car isnt the one the reg or v5 belongs too. Which makes it a ringer. If 2 different auction houses werent prepared to auction it - Id steer well clear.
