Hi. For those who have been through this..

I am interested in what rules around bulkheads exist for the mot for zcars

I want to put something between the driver and engine behind him for safety but not overengineer it..

for example -

Is no bulkhead at all acceptable?

If a bulkhead is needed, at what stage does that bulkhead pass the MOT please?

In the MSA blue book all holes have to be plated over for example, but in most cars its rubber grommets for the road where wires and tubing passes through.

What about areas of compound curve - does it matter if there are gaps? How big can the gaps be?

Or is it simply if its not fitted it can't be tested?

thanks for the help
phil.

I can't see how a Z Car wouldn't require an IVA. If it passed one of those it should be able to pass an MoT, at least in that respect.

Either way, the IVA manual is probably the most thorough guide on what's required.

If the car is in the same condition that it passed the IVA to get registered then it is fine for the MOT.

Forget what the Blue book says as that has nothing to do with being road worthy.

That's if they actually put the car through one...

I looked at the manual out of curiosity, it has nothing to say on the subject that I could find. Only that the heater/ demister intake should sited to avoid picking up fumes. There are things like the Arial Atom, but they don't have roofs.
