1275 Timing And Mixture

Greetings,

just got my mini rebuild on the road.  All my work has been bodywork, someone else had previously done loads of mods and upgrades, but I have no details. It has got a 1275 Metro engine in it, with an hr44 carb, I know no more than that.  I timed it with a strobe, and got it burning blue with my colourtune, but it was pretty pedestrian and lumpy so I just did it by ear and it runs pretty smooth now, but still doesn’t want to go as quickly as I would have expected. I’m working from memory, my last mini was in the early seventies, and I’m not sure where to go next.  Any help would be appreciated.
