Hi there, I have a SPi 1275 mini sprite. I am looking to make it a quick/useable road car. I plan on removing all the SPi equipment and carrying out the following:

Mini spares 1380 bottom end with the evolution 2 camshaft

Big valve stage 3 head

Twin Su's 1 1/4 HS2's on standard metal cooper airbox

1.5:1 Roller tip rockers

Replace distributor

Fit oil cooler

RC40 exhaust

Lightened flywheel

Am I correct in thinking my car makes 52HP? What sort of power/difference would I get from the above? Are all these items compatible, or have I missed anything? Thanks for all your advice & views

Just a small warning, you may not be able to pass an MOT if you do this as your car will have to pass a CAT test due to its original build. There are ways around this by using an older block and having proof.Just a friendly heads up.Steve...

When was the car registered, month and year as there is a period where CAT was fitted but doesn’t have to be there now but doesn’t apply to all.

You'd still be better going with an older engine as the emissions requirements will be easier. I think there's now an issue with junking catalytic converters when they were original eqpt too, but I'm not up to speed on the detail.

It shouldn't be a huge problem, the SPI is almost identical to all the earlier A+  carb engines.

Back to the original question... about double wouldn't be unreasonable. If it's for the road I might go for a bit tamer cam, or leave off the 1.5 rockers.

If you're using high ratio rockers don't go OTT with the valve springs. Consider specifying hardened exhaust valve seats. Don't bother with the oil cooler, unless you're planning on armour plating your Mini. Also give some thought to your transmission, will your final drive allow you to get into the power band of your chosen cam - is it in good enough knick or will the extra ponies only hasten its demise?
