Hello all,

I have two standard pioneer speakers on the parcel shelf in my 91 mayfair.

However, ever since I purchased the car, only one rear speaker works. I've been through the radio menu to check fading and balance etc and I've purchased replacement speakers, still no joy.

I'm not great with electrics, do any of you experienced owners know what the problem could likely be?

assuming that you do have a pair of wires going to each speaker, then it's most likely there is a break in one set or wires, or one set is not connected to the head unit

check the speaker wire connections to the back of the head unit - you should have two pairs of wires; one the left speaker, one for right

if both pairs are present and attached, try swapping them over.  if you get sound through the speaker that wasn't previously working it would suggest the wire is the problem

Try getting one of the square 6v batterys (found in a fire alarm kinda thing.. )
If you unplug the speaker wire at the head unit then put the speaker wires either side of the battery you will find out if the speaker is working (click it briefly)

That way you will know if the head unit is rubbered or the speaker..

Minis do suffer leaks from the rear window seal to parcel shelf and could have burst the cone..

Thanks for the responses. I'll do some further investigation on the head unit. Good idea with the battery too. Thanks again.
