Somerford - Excellent Service

Following on from my post about Minispares bad service I would like to mention the great service received from Somerford. I called them late Friday afternoon asking if they could get a part to me by Saturday. The nice man said the quickest was Royal Mail next day but unfortunately the post had already gone. I placed the order on the website and selected Royal Mail next day. To my surprise and great appreciation the part arrived the next day (Saturday) ! Now that’s what I call service.

Somerford staff don't always seem to be aware they stock the high quality Valtain range of Japanese Mini parts and they don't exactly advertise the fact in their standard Mini magazine adverts or on their website unless you search quite carefully. Maybe that's why some part suppliers say there is no demand for higher priced quality Mini parts like Valtain in the UK?

To be honest I’ve always had good service from Mini Spares, Mini Sport and Somerford.

Most recent purchase was from Somerford and they were great over email and once ordered it arrived next day.

And you are right about the Valtain stuff, it’s very good quality stuff and hence the pricing…it’s certainly cheaper buying it from Somerford than buying direct from Japan…customs and VAT is painful

how much of a discount? i had a fairly big order with them a couple of years ago and just rang to chance my arm on a discount, ended up with a good 7 or 8%, you don't ask you don't get!

minispares have always been tho most consistent for me, although I've never needed anything next day(doesn't help being international either) 

somerford (smaller stuff, nuts and bolts seem cheaper with them) ended up sending my order on normal shipping when i had paid for express(only £5 more), wasn't in a major panic for the stuff so didn't bother getting in touch so only my own loss
