thinking of some of these in my clubman bonnet, there are two really good companies out there that can do them, so no problem getting them done, but  can't for the life of me decide where to put them on the bonnet, how many, what size, what pattern? Can't find any decent pics of clubmans, or roundnose bonnets with louvres in?

any suggestions/pics?

It all depends on what you are wanting them to do.

Remember you’ve got to contend with the inner bracing on the bonnet so you can only get louvers pressed in on those areas that are accessible from both side unless you remove and refit the inner structure.

Had them on my RS Turbo back in the day always let water onto the engine not a good idea unless you need them for cooling

if you felt you needed them for cooling reasons, then at the back in the centre where the heat builds up from the exhaust and can cause heat soak into the carb / carbs.

That’s is the same place as the ERA turbo in fact that had a scoop over it to help suck the air out and the holes were swayed upwards to deflect the rain away

That allowed air into the engine bay.

A company called Coombes modified Jaguar MK2's back in the 1960's and if you can find one now it would be worth a fortune, although the bonnet louvres on MK2 are often called Coombes louvres very few of the cars they did had them because of the issues with them letting water in which on the XK engine allowed water to sit in the V in the middle where the plugs were.

For me if there is a genuine need thats fine but if its just styling then be careful as they might cause unexpected issues.

Not a clubman,
But some holes should suffice breathing for a Weber,
And letting out exhaust heat when stopped/in traffic :-)

Cold Air gets rammed in the front grill and hot air gets sucked out the holes / Louvre’s in the bonnet. Theory is the air flowing over the bonnet travels faster than that inside the bonnet causing lower pressure to suck the hot air out of the engine bay

Thanks for the idea, but done the hole thing, but now really want louvres just for styling, not aerodynamics, neat pics tho, thanks.

does this work? back in the day people jacked up rear of bonnet but mixed reviews whether it worked to vent air or not due to windscreen rake, interested to know before cutting into my bonnet

That does not work as a vent on a Mini.

as said by Mr Vizard and proven in the wind tunnel. It also creates lift.
