Cagiva Moke - Green Seatbelts

Hi fellow Moke drivers,

I have bought a '92 Cagiva Moke last year.

Meanwhile I have refreshed the whole suspension and many other things that have perished during the car's years in Italy.

The Moke is in its original Titan Red (a dark red metallic Renault paint "Rouge Titien" with a white leatherette interior with green piping. Unusual colour combination for sure - but I fell in love with this car when I first saw it.

It still has its original 30 year old seat belts in green.

They are fully functional but have faded a little during the years.

Does anyone know of a source to buy such seat belts with proper ECE safety labels or NOS?

The red and black belts seem to be readily available but I'm struggling to find geen belts.

Any ideas?

Just checked out the site - looks like that's what I'm after! Seems they can provide R16 European certified belts which would make them road legal here in Germany. Problem with refurbishing old seatbelts - using new belts in existing mechanisms - is considered illegal here as the type approval is for the complete unit as is. Rules here are a lot stricter than in the UK - That's also why we can't easily drive all the nice wheels and fit the nice exhausts etc. you guys have available.

I'll give them a ring after Easter - thanks for the time being!

We have a couple of local firms here (I'm in Australia) who refurbish old seat belts and they re-certify them as part of their process but they can only be certified to the original standard to which they were made.

However, if it were me and given just the age of yours, that'd be enough for me to replace them complete. The set I have on my own Moke I replace every 5 to 6 years, they aren't expensive.

Quick update:

They are perfectly able to provide the ECE-labels for the belts and they have a choice of 6 (!) different greens.
None is a perfect match, they vary slightly but two are so close, I bet after a couple of weeks of sunlight you won't be able to distinguish them.

Far better than my old sun faded items anyway.

4 belts are in the making - I will post pictures once I get the belts. Will be 2-3 weeks to produce them and then we need to brexit-ship them to Germany which might be another 4 weeks but still: new belts on the way!

the belts have arrived and they are absolutely fabulous!

Thanks to Pawel at Quickfit Safety Belts for the excellent service. He even managed to find some obsolete stock of belt protector sleeves for me and included them (the things you use to prevent the belt from rubbing on the rear top shock mount).

Shipping with UPS was quick, they save a lot of time by sending you an open invoice for taxes when you're outside of Global Britain

The new belts have all the right labels to make them perfectly road legal and I can only recommend the vendor whenever you need colour coded belts - they have a vast variety of many colours and shades available. Also a lot can be configured when it comes to buckles etc (chrome - non-chrome, long stalks, short stalks...)

Thanks again to Spider for pointing me in the right direction - a true imporvement over my 30 year old somewhat frayed and faded belts...

Pleased for you too they went that extra mile for some finishing touches.

Looking at your photos, it really has come up a treat, the green belts do look good against the red / brown of your Moke and the white of the seat trip.

I'm sure they'll do you for another 20 years.
