i have a white roof on my 68 cooper , should it b black ? and if so how can i tell what it was standard ?

I believe only the works coopers had an alternate roof colour... other production coopers the roof was the same as the body
but I'm likely to be wrong on that fact...

almost right john, the works coopers were the only red minis to have a white roof. all red minis from the factory were painted with a black roof, as were white cars.
grey, green, yellows, blues etc had white roofs.
when the Mk3 cooper was launched, then the roofs were body coloured.
if yours is a 68 Mk2 cooper in Tartan red (RD9) it should have left the factory with a black roof (BK1), black seats and liners, black carpet and pale cream headlining
the best way to find out is to get a heritage certificate.
