I ended up drawing it out on a peice of card cutting it larger than required then a few hours getting
right before using it as a template

I scanned the template into 5 seperate peices for some one else so they could print it out onto A 4 paper
(they never let me know if it worked?)
So here they are hope it helps

this may be a silly question but does anyone know if the centre console restricts the heater output?

It will do unless you provide adequate outlets for the heat to vent out into the car. Mine has a heat resistant "heater board" between the existing heater outlet and the main part of the console to deflect the heat forward and toward two multi directional air vents on the front facia of the console (effectivley making an air duct). This also stops any items placed in the storage area of the console from getting hot and being damaged by the hot air. It's all going to depend on the design of your console, a good quality, well developed and proffesionaly built console will take account of these sorts of issues, where as the lower end of the market and DIY versions may, or may not do so.

Similarly a well developed/designed console will tend to use plastic or waterproof trim at all the points where the console comes into contact with the vehicles carpet, as this stops the console absorbing moisture from the carpet caused by wet shoes.
