I'd like your opinion on whether I should repair or replace my o/s inner wing. It's the original panel (Mini built in 1965) so its done well to last this long. Its had a few repairs before and is thin in a few areas.
I was definitely going to repair it, but now I'm not quite so sure.
If you take a look at my project thread you can see that I am looking for a very high standard of final finish for the whole car. Therefore if I do repair it all previous repairs will need to be ground down so that they are virtually.

Top edge where the wing was will need to have any holes welded up. This is quite normal after a wing has been removed though.

There does appear to be a bit of a slice (I didn't do it) that will need to be welded.

When I remove the remainder of the front panel that area will have to be repaired and have previous repairs ground back flat.

Deep pitting which has turned into holes and a generally thin area. Will need to be cut out, repair panel made, weld in, grind flush.

Top corner will need to be cut out and replaced as that is thin. Also you can see that a previous repair as rusted through and also it's not neat enough. That would need some cutting/welding/grinding too.

Looking down lower you can see more previous repairs. These are of a reasonable standard but again, I would be grinding them all down to make the whole panel flat.

Please cast your votes/let me know your thoughts!
Thanks, Ed.

both of mine was nearly as bad as this one and i replaced them, just piece of mind to be honest as wherever theres rust there will be a hole shortly down the line as ive found out a few years ago on my first project, so this ones had zero cutbacks and any panel with any rust has been replaced .If your going for a high standard car Don't hold back because you will regret it later down the line

I've not had many votes so far and it' currently at a very unhelpful 50/50!

I personally would repair, just because I'm tight, however due to the standard you've achieved so far with the car I've voted replace!!
It would only annoy you, repairing to and invisable standard will be time consuming.
Is just the cost of a new panel compared to a couple of flap wheels and some steel that would stop me!!

Cheers for your comments shifty.
Yeah they're kind of my thoughts really. At a guess I could easily spend about 12 hours/two full days on repairing it.
Is it possible to get a genuine inner wing complete with Mk1 A-Panel all as one panel??
