After these posts by Che and myself I thought I'd start this thread to see who would be interested? Now I'm guessing it would take a few months and cost a fair bit but I've hit Africa in 36 hours on a few hundred quid.... And we don't have to go around the equator!!

Any ideas....

Jammy old chap
I would be delighted to undertake a trip in the company of like minded adventurous folk who don't think their mini will conk out if it goes further than about 50 miles. I am up for a long trip, but even I would hesitate at "round the world" I would relish the idea of driving to Africa - or perhaps down to Greece or Turkey. I once drove a 10 year old Hillman Hunter from Slough to Marathon - on the Pelepponese, deep in the South of Greece, there and back in two weeks, three days to Thessalonika, the just cruised down after that. Well, I just think a mini could easily make it to Africa or the South of Italy, or Greece, Turkey etc. We just need enough of us, and some contacts with various mini clubs along the way for technical help, spares etc. You realise we could drive just about anywhere, and never be further away than 50 miles from a mini owner, and never more than 100 miles away from a large established mini club.
Looking forward to planning something really challenging - and really fun! We could even plan the odd mini event with local clubs along the way!

Only beause I didn't have a mini running that was suitable for the trip. Plus There was 5 of us in there! I bet anyone £100 that they couldn't get 5 people to Africa in a classic mini within 48 hours!!

Ok, starting a bit smaller as takers for the roudn the world trip maybe small. How about a tour of Europe?

i love the round europe idea, how about visiting all the amazing race tracks, like Imola, Spa Francorchamps, Le Mans, Nurburgring, Hungaroring etc? Starting from our very own Silverstone?

I'll be on the BH2N next year anyhow!!

I like the idea of doing several race track visits....and I like the round Europe idea as well.....is this going to be just a dream, or can we think of something achievable and realistic and move forward with it. By realistic, I mean we all get holidays, two weeks ok, three weeks - not too many takers I would think? So you have to think about what you could do inside two weeks. It was ten days to Barcelona and back, but we could easily have done it is 8 with three days in Barcelona. So really Spain can be done, Italy is a bit further....we could do a "budget" Italian Job...come back via Nurburgring...ah well, it's good to dream....
