Hi All!
Just had a search and there doesn't seem to be much on the Mini racing scene on the forum!
Thought I'd set up a topic so we can all share our fun (and sometimes scary... :)) experiences whilst racing our Minis.
And also have a chat about recent results and races to come!

So, I already know of a few Mini racers on here... but how's everyone getting on recently? Got your cars all prepped for the new season (if it hasn't already started yet)? Would be great to see some pics of all the different cars... mine's in my PM and Personal Pic, will get some more up a bit later.

Any decent results recently?

I race at a short circuit oval track, Standlake Arena in the Juniors. Did Mendips Raceway last year, and now moved up in the world. Same car but new specs. My last meeting (15th March) I managed a 1st, 2nd and 2nd, so well chuffed! Now moving out of the newbie's grade (it's a new track for me, only had 2 meetings there) into the proper stuff! Let's see how we get on :D

Chat away :o

Nice, sounds like fun!
Right, let's make this a bit more, urm, standard.
Post up:

What type of racing you do:
What engine your car is running:
Where abouts you race:
Your best bits
And the worst bits!
And then anything else you want to add :o

I'll start

Ok, I do junior short track oval racing
Standard 998cc Engine with only adjustments permitted by rules, ie exhaust, K&N etc
I race at Standlake Arena, Nr Oxford
Best bit, winning on my 1st meeting there
Worst bit, taking my mate Jack out at my old track when we were 1st and 2nd position. Woops! :D

Autograss racing, Class 1 Junior
Standard 998cc engine
race mostly at scunthorpe and sturton and stow
best bits: most of it
bad bits: bending it!

Dont see what the problem is with autograssing minis, after all, a mini IS a mini, no matter what you do with it...

What he said. At the end of the day I like minis as much as the next person on here. BUT. A mini is just a car. They get raced crashed scraped and broken up for parts. It just happens. Just cause its a mini it doest really make it any different to any other car. I went a watched the juniors racing at my local circuit not to long ago.

My mate also used to race a while ago now. He still has lots of parts and helps me out which is nice of him. This is his old clubby.

Next year I'm really gonna make an effort to go and watch the mini racing when its at my local track. Its dirt cheap to get in and is a pretty cool day out.

yeah we enjoy it, just the club cant seem to get their head around the idea of minis being used for anything other than shows. my dad rang up a bloke to buy a subframe off him, got in a conversation, the bloke learnt that it was for autograss and wouldnt sell us the subframe. :xmas:

I race at TMC in north east hampshire, I raced a mini between 2005 and 2009, then got into a vauxhall nova. Simply because the Nova is better suited to the particular track, and I got tired of changing subframes! ;D I do miss racing the minis, though.
