Hello all.

Welcome to the rebuild of Juice, the J reg Cooper.
Posted Image

Juice belongs to Luvlygal, and its my quest to rebuild Juice into a better than factory condition.
Main aims, just to get it back to standard.

The first look...
First looked at Juice back in Aug 08, to which, I could see she needed:
  • two front floor pans
  • two rear floors pans
  • Crossmember
  • inner sills
  • outter sills
  • door steps
  • front wings
  • grille panel
  • scuttle ends
  • A-panels
  • door skin
  • small section on the rear window

So as you can see, I have my work cut out, but time isn't a factor, so she'll be done to better than how the factory would of built her.

But now, May 2009, saw the begining of Juice returning to the road.
The Sun shone over Hereford, and two budding friends went out, with tool box in hand, and set to work, on taking her apart peice by peice.

Saturday, saw the start of the main body strip down. Took out the all the glass, bonnet, boot lid, stripped the doors down, took the lights out, and started taking the front apart.

Within 2hours, Juicy was Nakie! Bit extream air con :P
We pushed her back into the garage looking a bit sorry for herself

Oh and before I forget, Juice bit her mum :-

But, the next day, the sun had his hat on again! This time he was a warm 21degrees, by the end of the day, Jen had a nice red back, and I've got a burnt neck :teehee:

But, she was pushed up, from the garage, to the driveway, where she'll be sat for the next few months.
Started taking the bits off the engine to allow removal to be easier. This is the first Mini I've done that has a Servo, so this was slightly new to me, but soon worked out how I needed to take it off.

Corsa and Mini together again - breifly :)

My Astra being made redundant down the road  Least it was replaced but a better car

While taking the bits off the engine, we decided to call the Previous owner, Arther, second name, Job! I'm surprised Juice never caught alight while on the road before.... dodgy wiring everywhere!

Anyways, thats it for now, tune in next time for more on the Juice project.

Dog & Luvly.

p.s. Sorry for any cracked screens if you've veiwed the pictures with me in them

It doesn't look that bad! is all the horrible brown rot in the usual hidden places? Good Luck with it and I hope it doesn't take too long!

So far, we've found rust in various places - the front end, the 'A' panels, driver's door, all over the floor... etc. As you said, the usual places!

The boot seems to be okay though!

Hopefully, there'll be further investigation taking place this weekend! :shifty:

small update for the day.

Due to having work this morning, progress isn't much, but some is better than none.
My aims are to try and get her completely stripped, ready to roll over next weekend. If my wheels arrive in time.

So, from under her rain coat she came, first off, the exhaust....
The LCB was soooo rotten, the only thing litrally holding it together was the "fire-gum" that seals it all up.
So undone the one and only mount that was holding it up, bit of a wiggle and a choice word or six, and off it came. Seems shes been running rather low for a long time, the exhaust clamps are worn down, and the underside of the exhaust has typical "low" running damage, no big holes, just scraches. Link pipe seems to be fine too.

So, with the big lump gone from underneth, time to tackle the engine area... the bolt came off fairly easy - which surprised me, and once the carb was off, I discovered, the head isn't a standard head :( Looking at the porting, it seems someone opened her out to around a stage 2/3, can't wait to rip the enigne apart and see what else she might be hiding.

Then the uswel case of undoing the engine mounts... I used to be able to do them in my sleep... but, got one side off, no problem at all, but come to the one underneth the Clutch, what a frigging PITA that is! Going captive nuts when I come to put the engine back in.

Move removal of bits that'll get in the way, and chopped the grille panel a bit too, make it easier to remove tomorrow.

All in all, this is today progress:

Posted Image

All I need to do now, is undo the gear linkage, and drive shafts. But needed a hand to roll her onto the road to do so, but I was on my tod

And now, I end this, a very tired Dog, I'm getting old >_< I'm shatter

Yeh, I know, I used to be able to get the engine out, and a new one back in, into the Van in less than 2 hours...
Seems I've lost my touch :(

Plus, I started doing it on the drive, which is a stupidly steep slope  So can't jack it up to crack the ball joints, nor drain the fuilds, nor undo the gear selection rod - the weekend I'll try and push her onto the road, and get the rest of the job done.

Hopefully the steelies would of arrived then too, so the doors will come off, and the rest of whats left of the interior, arches etc too. then with a bit of luck, I can borrow the steam cleaner from work, and give the engine bay a good clean.

THen it rollypolly time >_< Over onto her side, on the drive, again good steam clean, then start cutting holes into her for welding.

Reminds me, better try and get a welder soon lol.

EDIT: And bugger off with the Man the f**k up comment, rich coming from a man that has a four poster and two poster lift :dontgetit: the rest of us use a jack and axle stands
