After a year and 6 months of looking, i've finally bought myself a mini  . It's a 998 Mini City E which i bought all the way from nottingham (toton to be exact).

I'll let the pictures do the talking first:

The pipe off the back box had come out so i got it welded up at work in the workshops:

There was holes around the back of the box because it was originally a DTM but the people i bought it off said it was too loud so he welded on a single exit instead.

This is the replacement parts list the guy put on the car before me:

- New valves and lapped into seats,
- Head gasket
- Timing chain
- rebuilt clutch
- Drive shaft seals
- Water pump
- Radiator
- Heater matrix
- Rear subframe
- knuckles and balls
- Bumpstops
- Strut pin
- Tie rod bushes
- Subframe mounts
- Steering rack
- Wheel bearings
- Discs
- Headlamps (halogen bulbs)
- Indicators and side repeaters
- Fuel and brake lines
- Front and rear screen trim & seals

Oh and he fitted a return spring on the gear stick to make it a bit easier to change gear  .

It's also had a full body respray before the rebuild (obviously lol), being flame red and a bright white roof.

I'm getting a disc with all the rebuild photos on so i'll post them up when they come through the post next week.

Thanks,

Andrew

P.S. You can start spamming now ben :P .

Forgot to add that it has a smiths 3 binnacle clock instead of the standard 2 binnacle on city e's. However the clock doesn't read the right speed so i think i need to change that or the spindle and pinion in the box.

Does anyone know what model the 3 binnacle smiths gauges came with?

What's the difference between a city and a city e? Is it the final drive? Because i've read on tinternet that the city e had a 2.95 FD but i've seen in my dad's old mechanic data books that it has a 3.105 FD :S?

Cheers,

Andrew

Does anyone know of anywhere that does the circle sticky bit inside the winged badge on my car? I've looked on minispares and minisport and can only see the full badge.

I want to replace the middle bit because it's from a late cooper (which mine isnt) and didn't see the point in pulling the whole thing off and maybe ruining the paint when i could just change the middle bit.

Cheers,

Andrew

Pl minis or huddersfield are selling them. Isnt that easy removing the sticker without removing the winged badge from the car and avoiding any damage to badge itself..

I was just going to pull it off with a screwdriver. Not to bothered about the cooper bit itself. Or did you mean it's hard to remove it without damaging the silver surround?

Cheers,

Andrew

Need to get my yaris sold so i can get the mini on the road. Think i'm going get some stickers to replace the cooper ones on my bonnet, boot, steering wheel and alloys. Don't like the fact that it has cooper on it when it's not one.

Went to GP this weekend so i haven't seen it in 3 days. Already getting withdrawl symptoms and i'm not even driving it yet lol.

The exhaust inside a starting to rot according to the guy on the workshops (the backplate is carbon steel) so i'm going to replace with an rc 40 in august/september time. Probs whip the head off and do some porting at the same time aswell.

Well i've took some pictures of my clocks hoping that someone will be able to tell me what model they came off. They look like the smiths tri'clocks out of the 1275 GT i think. What do you reckon:

Anyone know the turns per mile of these aswell? My worm and pinion gear in the box must be wrong for them because it's only reading 55 instead of 70 lol.

Cheers,

Andrew
