I am thinking about producing this dashboard.

differences between my idea:
- Top dash rail is replaced by an all in one dash.
- Non fibreglass (just because i haven't looked into it yet)
- centre console is closely involved with the design

I like it, a modern dash design with a hint of 'retro-ness' (centre speedo)

I like it but I would prefer a subtle curve from the top rail to the main dash face and mabe a subtle curve in the oppersite direction to the console to you have a kind of S curve but maybe on 10 degrees of curve... if you know what I mean

Looks good anyway

Good luck

Neil

What software did you use to design this? ;)

Google sketch up I would guess from the title 'Mini Dashboard Concept. sketch up'. Nice idea, may have a go at designing mine on sketch up.

Like it - nice idea and nice drawings.

Don't forget there is LOADS of legroom available BELOW the bottom dash rail (which is only a structural
feature in a mini). Easy to cover, hide and ignore aesthetically...
A good dash could (and I say should) make use of this wasted space.
To test this go and sit in your Mini - your knees are probably A LONG WAY from the dash - the driver's legs
generally go nowhere near the bottom dash rail. So LOTS of space is available for design of this, that and the other.

Anyway, nice pictures.
Make it.

best wishes
Monty

This dash is slightly different but works in the same way. a two layer system that joins the thicker top dash rail i will fabricate. i added a glove box to illustrate how this may work. the finish is wood plywood varnished and vinyl (any colour combinations).

As suggested:
- I added a glove box whilst utilising space under but
- Added 3 clocks
- Added a more subtle curve

I thought to add
- kept the retro modern feel.
- more detailed centre console
- more detailed vents (how they would sit in the dash, flush with first layer)
- a better looking centre console then the traditional one (notice that it has been been faced with plywood)

glad you would im going to the workshop tomorrow im going to make it :).... all i need are some dimensions for the top dash pad. i cant measure it myself i am to far away from my car. please if anyone would be so kind i will give you a cup of tea and my gratitude

oh and i will be making it with red vinyl.

thanks andy :P

oh if it can be made to a high standard i would be happy to sell them im poor after all. would probably do it for 80 - 100 pound for entire dash and fixings. im a perfectionist so i will not sell a dash unless i felt i would be happy with it in my own car.
