Hi Guys,

I've modelled a pre verto 1275 A+ engine in the computer (not to scale or finished yet) and thought you'd like to see it thus far.

I started it on a whim because I got fed up of running to the garage with notebooks, thread guages and vernier calipers to measure parts. It's rolled out into a project where I'm programming and lugging engine parts into the office, much to my wifes annoyance.

You can rotate the engine with the buttons. You can also drag the engine with the middle mouse button and zoom in with the mouse wheel.
At the moment if you click on the radiator or rocker cover they move out the way. The idea being when its finished you can see the inner workings of the engine.

(the links weren't coming out right in this post so copy/paste the link below into your browser)

In the link below is the flash version of the engine which is easier on the programming and may be more user friendly but I think when it eventually get finished it may take forever to load.
The buttons are at the top and they spin the engine around. You can also click on the clutch housing and inlet manifold to zoom in as it dissassembles itself.

I was thinking I could make it into an Iphone app. Not that I've got one of those new fangled Iphones. Maybe it could be useful for people who don't know much about engines. Maybe you could click on a part and an information panel pops up with its name, spec, part number or that sort of thing.

How do you think the 3D version interacts?
Do you guys think the Flash version is more user friendly than the 3D version?
If you've got any thoughts on how to make it more useful for people or other cool ideas I'd love to hear them.

Hope you like. It was certainly the easiest and cheapest engine I've ever built. :)

Cheers,

Rich

replace the word pictures with pictures in the link and it works

Looks great so far, although when i clicked on the rad nothing happened. Worked for the clutch cover though.

clutch area needs to be a little bigger, but a fantastic start!!!!

Edit: For some realy weird reason the forum won't let me write P I C S, and changes it too pictures. Must be some automatic spelling thing or something. Either way copy and past the link, and change the word pictures too p ics, without the space! so delete the letters t u r e!!!!

Couldn't get the clutch cover to come off?? - the rocker and the rad did however.

A lot of effort must have gone into it (well it looks it!)

Keep up the good work!

Can't see to get it working....

The links don't seem to work.

Love your bike, I used to have a vj22 race kitted bike, 72hp at the wheels and H*nda RS fairings with Yam TZ seat, god I loved that bike, still regret I sold it...

Copy and paste the links from mini_mad69's post but type P I C S (remove the spaces) instead of PICTURES (delete the "TURE" out of the URL)

Edit: The spell checker is changing mine too!

I thought the forum spellchecker thing was supposed to avoid confusion!

Oh the irony! :)

Glad you guys like the engine. :(

I'll look again at the size of the clutch housing, some things are a little out proportion wise.

Gonna see if I can put torque settings from the Haynes manual on the bolts so when you hover the mouse over them it'll have a little pop up window.

Cheers,

Rich

Install it, then run the file and it'll open up like a webpage with the Engine inside it.
