Time to start the rebuild of my pickup. This is what he looked like until the end of last year

Posted Image

And then he suddenly looked like this :D
Posted Image

I still haven't got pictures of the parts of the f o/s suspension that broke and brought him down.

Here is the only picture I have so far of the rebuild, by Paul Tupman at Kingsteignton.

Posted Image

A small beginning, but radical, and from this everything changes. This is a 13" to 10" conversion kit with the smaller discs,
solid with black pads for the time being to see how they cope with the 1380. The wheels will be 4.5 Minilifes with the extra innner offset so not only will the sportspack arches be gone, there will be no arches at all and the plain webbing trim now just on the sills and rear valance will probably run unbroken all the way.

The strengthened tie bars, adjustable bottom arms and braided hoses from before are retained, as are the solid front subframe mounts.

The cabin with the Corbeau seats and three-point Luke harness with the unique mounting bar across the back of the cab will stay because I like it like that.

Huey is still waiting to go into the body shop. The whole offside will be rebuilt, with a new A pillar (thanks emalee!), and the 10" wheels will mean at least the n/s wing has to be replaced as well. The side repeaters are disappearing as "not correct." The front will stay for now, lamps and all, until we see what it looks like overall.

The colour will be ... Pageant Blue - JNA (BLVC224)
Years: 77-81

That's it for now and I don't expect much more for a while. However, I'm chuffed to have chosen this course when Mrs T has just bought a stonking Cooper Sportspack with styling that goes in exactly the opposite direction. Let the games commence. :D

Mine's done! I start on the exercise bike tomorrow.
to be honest I don't know if Pageant was a correct commercial vehicle colour but it's better than the original Ford Imperial Blue (although that was very pretty).

I still can't believe I only saw you both just the day before this happened

My dad wants to go for 10s but needs some advice. Next time we see you, would you be willing to have a chat about Huey's conversion?

Nice one Teapot!

The pick up I have my eye on is Pageant Blue, but I would love to have it in the Imperial blue! Its such an eye catcher in that colour! I am amazed you would want to have it back to a "standard" colour after having such a outstanding Bling!

Glad to see Huey is being rebuilt! I'm pretty sure that Pageant Blue was available on the pickup - I think it will look a lot more 'in keeping' with the new look than the Ford colour.
