When I had my A+ 1275 block bored the engine shop I used lost the engine number plate and I had not written it down. The engine was from an early carb Cooper (pre cat) and I want to declare it on the V5 now the conversion is done.

What is my best course of action? Insurance is declared so all up to date there but not sure of prefix which applies. Have tried Guessworks but maybe I am missing something...?

Any help much appreciated!

You can't guess at the engine number! You could try to contact the person you bought it from and see if they still have the V5 of the car it came from.

I know that, but I have lost the contact details of the guy I bought it from (local classifieds, I think). What I wanted was the prefix so at least the engine would be correctly identified as having originated from a carb cooper A+, even if I haven't got the correct serial number.
