It resides in Harpenden, Herts. It's ALWAYS covered up, parked in the scientific research centre, but i have seen it a few times, and managed to find a photo of it.

Used to always be parked down outside a Big W store (before it closed) down near where I live, then it disappeared about 2 or 3 years ago, looked awesome.

There was one very similar (possibly the same?) at Mini in the Park last year. I remember hearing it got vandalised and set fire or something. Shame really, was an awesome project.

The blue one is really nice, It may be a different car but wasnt it once purple and has a short reg number like KL 80 or something?
If its for sale I would be VERY tempted to buy it... I do miss my chop.

Yeah lots of heat as the fire was fed with the fuel from the tank due to the mini design and road level at the time.

Took the fire crew no time at all to arrive but it was just too late to salvage her, the shell went to the big baked bean tin in the sky and any salvageable parts are now on other minis :)
Thanks Lowandslow and Burt :P

Carb fires are not rare on minis so please take five minutes this bank holiday monday to double check all fuel lines and carb seals and overflow lines etc.
Mine was down to a "recon" unit... No company names will be mentioned

Sadly this has happened to another owner seen here.. fire

Be warned guys.. take care out there

its also worth everyone investing in a decent size fire extinguisher, not just some pissy little thing. and securing it somewhere in the cabin, im guessing you didnt have one at the time??
