Hi All,

After this years L2B, I go to use the mini only to find that on the way back i've smashed a fog light, but more crucially, my battery's knackered!

Power/Charging etc. normally brings up a whole plethora of different methods and arguments, but my question (without trying to decipher past threads) is a simple one. What replacement batteries have people used to replace the stock item when its happened to them? (which i'm sure it has :D)

I currently have a Genesis Profile 5 running a pair of P69's and 2 sets of 13cm Focal's (1 x coax, 1 x comps). Which i'm sure you'll agree doesn't exactly warrant upgrading alternators and installing 'caps.

Cheers!
Steve

I've got a 306 Diesel battery, 036 I think the code is.

Never let me down yet, well, only when I'd left the interior light on for 3 weeks :D

Looks as though its "case closed" here chaps. I bought a Bosch (5 year warranty) battery for the pug. Can't remember the code, but the car started on the button (quicker than it ever has in my ownership too!) as soon as it was fitted. Nice and snug too! :)

Pbrain - I had thought of using a dry cell, but how much? :)

Cheers for the advice! :)

063 is a 306 battery, but not the biggest you can fit - the 075 is an upgrade to the 063

Is it a bit longer then, becuase the 063 fits snuggly width ways, but is a little short!

But yeah, I gave the reg for my mums old 306 TD and I got a 063.. Although the guy who sold it to me was sure it wouldnt fit a mini once he gave it to me and i told him what i was using it for!

I went with an 065 which fits really snuggly.

Heres some info on batteries from another Popoular Forum

A standard Mini battery is a Type 038.

Type 038
Capacity: 38Ah
CCA(SAE): 360A
RC: 50 Minutes

Dimensions(mm)
245 x 135 x 200
210 x 175 x 175

Other larger batteries will also fit in the standard Mini battery box and will help starting on cold mornings and wont go flat so quickly if you leave your stereo / lights on. Type 063 and Type 065 are good candidates.

Type 063
Capacity: 44Ah
CCA(EN): 330-440A
RC: 70 Minutes

Dimensions(mm)
212 x 175 x 175

Type 065
Capacity: 53Ah
CCA(EN): 470A
RC: 90 Minutes

Dimensions(mm)
242 x 175 x 175

Cold Cranking Amps (CCA)
This is the number of amps a new, fully charged car battery can supply for 30 seconds, while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts.

The higher the CCA rating, the greater the starting power of the battery.

Reserve Capacity (RC)
Represents the number of minutes a 12 volt battery can be discharged at 25 amps and maintain a voltage of 10.5 volts. The higher the RC, the longer the car battery can operate should its alternator or fan belt fail.

Ratings and Sizes are approximate, based on leading brands and may vary.
