Whilst browsing the world wide interweb I came across this:

The wheel is from an early Porsche 911, but I was wondering if anyone had fitted this steering wheel to a mini?
Fancy fitting this sort of wheel in my 1988 Mayfair, so was wondering if this was at all possible (No airbag to remove), would it be a fairly straight swap? Or am I being very optimisic?

So...anyone beat me to it?

If so:
Was it difficult? Do you have any pictures of it? Would you reccomend fitting one?

If not:
Is this impossible? Is there no way it can be put into a mini without changing an awful lot?

i'd say it'd be a bit on the big side for a mini tho. would look great all the same

As far as I know, the old porsche 911 wheels are 16", the same as the original Bakelite mk1 steerig wheels from early minis.

Just wondering what sort of boss would be needed to fit such a wheel |

you will need some measurements. the size of the wheel, how it fixes or what size boss you will need then see if you can find one to match a mini steering rack.

Just found one of these on ebay. Clicky It looks to me like it's got a built in boss so at a guess I'd say it's not gunna be a straight swap.

I don't know to be honest, I expect you be better off finding a similar style after market and boss that would fit Mini column splines.
