Well one thing that I think makes it look loads better is get rid of that soundproofing on the back on the engine back. It always look so tatty and is a bit of a fire hazard. If you want tips on a tidy engine bay with best person on here to ask is TadleySimon. I would quite happily eat dinner of his engine. So doubt he will be on here in a bit with a picture to show off his shiny engine to everyone.

That's where most of my underbonnet stuff came from.

As for tidying it up, I'd say, move the horn to the inner wing, tuck the wiring loom for under the scuttle panel and try to hide the hazard flasher too. Other than that, it's pretty tidy to start off with.

I would also say get a weather shield and get rid of the bag as that will make it look better.

look for the member h4wx1e on here (sure he has a bit in the garage section).
look at the pictures of his engine bay its nice and tidy.
all his hoses are blue, im thinking about doing the same, maybe not in blue though, as its a little nicer than black pipes.

Dude compared to mine. This is gleaming. My rocker cover gasket has been chucking out oil ever since I have had the *melonsing* thing. My driveway and the road outside my house is pure oil. >< Anyway, In relation to removing the sound proofing. Easy job?

to above, im no expert but i think it depends what sort of state its in and what sort of access you have to it,
i imagine its a real *woman of ill repute* with the engine still in.
i get back ache after 10mins under the bonnet of mine.

it depends how much work you want to put in. on mine loads of stuff needed replacing or refurbishing, so i thought while im there i might aswell paint it all.
things i did...

removed sound proofing
sorted the wiring (so it works) and then wrapped it all in electrical tape neatly and pushed up into the bendy hooks
painted the engine, rocker cover, rad, brake servo, master cylinder, servo bracket, top engine steady. thinks thats about it.
took the fuse box off and cleaned it all up and gave the whole bulkhead a clean.
cleaned the brake reservoir.
buffed the clutch reservoir
buffed the coil (not in the picture tho) also straightened and painted the coil bracket, again not in the picture tho.

the wiring around the fuse box looks a bit messy but thats been sorted since picture, but notice that you cant see the loom because its all up under the scuttle

yeah so to sum up.
paint
clean
buff
tidy

cant go wrong

elliot

EDIT

forgot to mention that it looks a lot tidier with the air filter on as well

mine after a few hours work and cost about 40/50 quid for paint pipes ect.

If you cleaning engine parts use summit like parifin to clean the parts with as it get rid of the grease.

Fuse box and wiring to sort next :-
