Model: Austin Rover Mini Jet Black
Year: 1988

Hi All,

I've seen a lot of posts on Mini Indicators but i've taken all advice and still no hope. Basically the car runs perfectly, apart from the fact that the indicators/horn dont work. I have changed the Hazard Switch, both relays and fuses look fine. Didnt know if anyone else had the same problem.

Hope someone can help and sorry for another Indicator Related Question =p

Stu

Have you checked the stalk? If you've checked everything else and the hazards work, then it could be something to do with the stalk.

id say somethings up with the stalk too by the sound of it, check to see if the high beam works and the flash works, check the plug is still connected properly too, if you can, test the connections at the stalk plug with a multimeter

3rd vote for the stalk, if it's not just coincidence, the purple wire is a common supply for the headlight flash & horn. Do the indicators do anything at all?

I have the exact same problem. Everyone has said it is likely to be the stalk.....but how do you check/fix it??

Thanks

Hi

Any joy on the indicator stalk - I have the exact same problem at the moment - nothing is operating from the stalk - however - when I disconnect the power wire to the horn I see I have 12V there when the horn stalk is pushed in. If I wire 12V directly to the horn it works but if I reconnect the wire from the stalk there is no horn! really do not understand this - any help will be appreciated!!

I have the same problem also, didn't realise this was so common!

Was just driving into work 5 minutes ago and had a little puff of smoke in the cabin emerge from where you put the key in the ignition.

Beams and hazards and all other functions are fine, just the directional indicators aren't!

Which fuses should I check?

Really need this sorted tonight as I need to make a 90 mile trip tomorrow lol.

To all of you that have this problem it has been covered on here by me and many others in depth.

In short your hazzard warning switch has failed and you need a new one. The power for your indicators is routed through the hazard warning switch. If the contact that supplies the power within the switch corrodes or gets mucked up you will not get a power feed to the stalks ala no indicators.

However when you switch on your hazzards you are useing a different set of contacts within the switch hense why the little mother is so big.

In short all of you go and buy new hazzard warning switches.

Someone sticky this in the tech section please.

Thanks Mr Joshua,

Did a little more digging up on the forum and you've pretty much confirmed my suspicion!

Thanks again!
