Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
While driving home today, the clutch pedal suddenly went rock hard and refuses to depress, so I limped home using brute force and rev matching to engage gears.
Having got home, I've had a look round the clutch mechanism and if I pull the Release Lever back towards the flywheel housing I am then able to depress the clutch pedal 1&1/2 times before it locks solid again. The release lever and throwout plunger will not return to their normal position when the clutch is released leading to the pedal going solid again.
I've soaked the release lever and throwout plunger and lubricated them both with no improvement.
Is this an indication that a new slave cylinder is required or is it liable to be something within the clutch itself (hoping it's the cylinder as there's half a chance that I can do that myself
Cheers
