Just interested to know what Power, Weight & 0-60 time people's cars are? (or the cars of others -if you know the stats!).

The key questions are:

1. Model (state if standard or modified)
2. Peak Bhp
3. Weight (1000kg = 1 Tonne)
4. Bhp/Tonne
5. 0-60 time (if you know it)

For all stats it would be useful if you can state:
Est - Estimated
RR - Bhp as measured on Rolling Road (at Flywheel -not at wheels)
WB - Weigh measured on a weighbridge/scales

I don't know any stats for my Mini except that it is highly modified and produces 100Bhp

Mine has c.115 bhp, was weighed at a rally Mini terst day at 718 kg about 1/2 full with fuel (that's around 5.5 gallons) and with 2 spare wheels.
0 - 60 was measured over several runs. Best was using just 1st and 2nd and a lot of revs at 7.4 secs. Using 1st, 2nd and 3rd and changing up at around 6200 rpm the best was 8.5 secs. The thing is controlling the wheelspin whilst overcoming the static inertia. That's the key to a good time.
That is without an LSD, but running a 3.9 final drive with SCCR gearbox.
There was Peter Horsbourgh's car there with a Weber and a 649 and an LSD and he was a bit faster 0 - 60, like 7.1-ish, but my car was a full 2 seconds faster on the handling course and he reverted to my engine spec a few weeks later after I emailed the full and detailed spec to him. Then he just best me to 1st overall on the Welsh Retro Rally a couple of weeks after that denying me my 3rd win on that event!

Very interesting -thanks Peter.

There's also some good guideline info on this site for the Race Minis:

[Stats for 4 different types of Mini racer are listed on the left of the page]

Anyone else timed (or estimate) the 0-60 in their car?

The thong abot the figures on the site above, is that they are total fabrication regarding 0-60. And if snyone has a miglia or a Se7en they are willing to actually test 0-60, I'd be very interested in the results.

Model: 998 turbo
BHP: 155 RR
Weight: 555kgs

0-60 under 5 seconds (estimate from 1/8 mile speed and time)

Model: 998 turbo (road car)
BHP: 90 est
Weight: 700kgs (est)

0-60 8.5 seconds (timed)

Why do you say that the Mini7 website 0-60 figures are a fabrication?

Anyone done any standing 1/4 mile times in a Mini?

Because the figures don't add up, Miglias are not light enough or powerful enough to get to 60 in 4.5 seconds, and it's the same with se7ens.

Lot's of people have run 1/4 mile times in minis, there are two dedicated mini run what you brung days every year.

Eeek -those times are blistering -even the slowest!

What sort of power were the lower end of the field running?

I tried this today.
rr-80bhp
weight-unknown
0-60 only done it the stopwatch on my phone and got 10.19
I wont be making a habit of it though as 0-60's are about the worst thing you can do to car.

If you based it on your speedo reading it'll be quite inaccurate as at a 60 mph reading you may only be doing 55 or so. Add about 10% to be sure.
The original 1275 'S' had c.75 bhp and took around 11 seconds, but that was with a 3.44 diff ratio.

Speedo has been confirmed correct on rr,also used guessworks calculator when i put it together.I done it on revs not speedo as i cannot see 60 clearly through my steering wheel,6700 in second,2.9diff,which according to guessworks calculator is 60mph.

if your car is standard, or uprated to do the job with the power in hand there's nothing wrong with launching your car (i've ran my meg on the strip well over 70times with no bother), a track day is surely more harmfull as your hammering every aspect of your car, but so what, mini's are cheap as chip to repair arent they!

i've got an mpi and had it to the john cooper works garage for the works 90 kit and that supposedly gave a 0-60 of 9-9.5 never ran it on a 1/4 mile though, hopefully my webber fed 1425 with LSD and sc/cr box with a short final drive should batter that!
