My grubby mitts finally got themselves on a mini

I won him on ebay and ended up picking him up a week ago saturday from waterlooville, kinda portsmouth way, with Neil

When we took him for a test drive he lost a bit of power but then was fine after a while, so drove him the 70ish miles home, he behaved himself quite nicely handled well and seemed alrighty, drove him about a few times on the sunday and was just on my way out to the pub whilst Neil was following me to go back to London and CLUNK! exhaust bracket was loose and it'd come off

Neil ended up reversing Freddie onto a curb to try and fix it back on 0_o nice marks in the road from where the exhaust had scraped along we didn't have a decent jack...but luckily many free, spare tires, so we drove him on to them to get the height and the sun had just set took around an hour to manage to fix it back on funsies!

Anywho, took Freddie down to the garage my family have been using for over 10 years on monday and turns out the lot are mini nuts too!! neither me nor my dad ever realised asked them to do a full service on him and sort out the exhaust properly so he'd be ready for me to go up to London for the Ace Cafe meet on thursday evening and then SMD after.

Rang up the garage on wednesday to see whether he was ready and got told that there were no front subframe mounts on and that the rear ones were useless as they'd broken long ago lovely...they fitted new rear ones and front ones, but couldn't get the front ones on properly as whoever had replaced one of the wings and A panels had messed it up big time, so they wouldn't fit properly got told he had some minor other problems but they weren't huge, just alternator bearings and fog light

Finally got him around 3pm and left for London around 3:30pm, made it up with no problems within 3 hours (due to damn traffic and a 16 miles detour...not accidental of course ) and also got to Ace Cafe and back with no problems

I'll have piccies up and the next installment of what Freddie did next tomorrow as I only got back home about 45 mins ago only about 24 hours later than originally planned

Ha! What an Idiot I am didn't tell you what Freddie is!! oh dear...it's been a looooooooong weekend


Oh and found a pic of him

He's a 1992 Rover Mayfair, 1275cc engine with an almost complete stage 1 kit on him

Though he's not as lovely as he looks in that pic yeah...bit of a bodge job was done on him in some places bit of filler here and there not the best respray in the world


I'm 75% thinking of keeping him and 25% thinking of selling him and getting a different one if I keep him, he will have a total colour change and probably a sex change when he does
