Hi,

I have recently fitted on my son's mini a carbon fibre bootlid. Now we want to keep the smooth look and therefore have not fitted the number plate housing. Can anyone tell me were can I buy LED number plate bolts and are they road legal? I have sort of been told that as long as the LED light is not directly shining back towards other road users its okay.
Any thoughts??

I've got them on the cabriolet and it passed its MOT - get them from bike spares shops
I fitted mine where the bolts to hold the number plate would be.

Hi
Thanks for that, tell me the ones you have fitted, are the LED visable like straight at the end of the bolt or different? Its just that I just found some for sale on Ebay there seem dammed expensive at £17 each but these types have like a cap on the end so that you cannot see the light from directly behind.

Thanks

mine have the LED's mounted in the side and fire sideways - coast me £12.00 each from local bike spares shop - they are a standard and very common rear tail-light illuminator for motorbikes.

definately DO NOT use the ones that fire out the end of the fitting - they are no good and illegal. go and check the luminance too - many are pants as I found out.

see mine in the pics - mounted through the number plate where the old bolt fix holes were.

Demon Tweeks
I know the pic on the link is for the ones with the light coming out of the end but if you ask for the numberplate lights you get the ones that I have on Jake. Not cheap but very good, MOTable and road legal.
