:withstupid: :thuHi all.
Has anyone tried using one of those chips on Ebay, they claim you can add up to 25bhp to your mini, just wondering if anyone has tried one yet mbsup:

there bad for the engine, all they do is alter the reading being given out by sensors, i think airflow meter or throttle position, basicly it tells the ECU that its getting more air that the engine really is doing so, this will make the ECU inject more fuel, all it does it make the engine run rich

and on some cars it wont have any affect at all, some ecu's using multiple sensor inputs, puts together a map for sensor readings, if that airflow isnt giving the correct reading corisponding with other sensors the ECU regards the sensor as faulty and disregards the sensor output relaying on the oter sensors to give the correct signal

so what do you reckon is the best way to increase bhp on a tight budget, say £150

cant say im an injection guy, so wouldnt be able to answer that very well, maybe higher ratio rockers tho, opens the valves for longer period, longer time frame for fuel and air to enter the cylinder

how ever not sure if this would be detrimental to the workings of the injection unit, would imagin ECU woudl need remap tho

What injection system are you using first? SPi or MPi... or maybe a TPi?

Sproket is the man to ask about Injection system IMHO. :withstupid:

Get a propper superchips pack IF anything. Otherwise a full service and a rolling road tuning session would probably see similar results.

Leave the 'extra 25bhp' resistors well alone!!!

As for the superchips icon, for that sort of money you can buy a fully programable ECU for that now, to be honest its really not worth the money for what you gain in bhp, maybe drivebility improves a little.

Tuning the MPi is restricted to the standard ECU, SPi is open to much more

For £150 a stage one kit is probibly the first thing to look at, and if you already have one of those, then £150 wont go far. Id be sepending that on making sure the resto of the car was sound and in good working order, starting with all the rubber bushes, ALL of them!

Yes mate, those horrible little hoses on the manifold, one running to the air filter and the other to the fuel trap. renewed them now and its running a treat
