Welcome to the official thread for the BMC British Mini Fair, at Bingley Hall, on January 27th 2008.
Firstly, sorry its all been a bit quiet in terms of letting you all know if TMF will be at this show or not. We got confirmation from BMC yesterday that we have definitely got a stand, so its all systems go!
I'm pretty sure most of you know what Bingley Hall is, where it is etc, but for those who don't have a look at the link below.
The Stand
Firstly, here's some info on the stand itself.
- We have a plot of roughly 10m x 4m
- Space is limited to 3 Mini's
- We have 6 free exhibitors passes which are valid until 9.30 on the day of the show
- The theme for the stand is 'Star Wars' - and for us to be allowed a stand we must comply with this
- The hall will be open for setup on saturday afternoon
- All stands need to be setup before 9.15am on the day of the show
The Minis
We have decided for 2008 to set a new precedent on how cars for our stands are picked. This is to not only make it fair for everyone, but also to ensure that we have a good variety of cars for each show. It will only apply at shows where space is limited to a few vehicles - at the larger shows where we have a bigger stand space will not be an issue.
How it works for Bingley Hall is like this:
- Anyone who would like to have their Mini on the stand should PM myself.
- All interested owners need to have their 'applications' in by 20:00 on FRIDAY 11TH JANUARY.
- Everyone's name is then put into a hat, and the first three pulled out will be marked down as 'definites' for the stand.
- The draw will take place at some point over the weekend 12th-13th January,
- We will then draw 3 more names, who will be marked down as 'reserves', should there be any people who for whatever reason can't make it at the last minute.
- The people who have been drawn will first be notified by PM, and then their names will be posted on the forum.
- The people who's names aren't drawn won't be notified by PM, but we hope you'll still come to the show in your Mini's!
Each 'definite' attending Mini will be allocated a 'reserve' Mini, which will take their place should the 'definite' Mini need to drop out.
Please only put your name forward for a place if you are 100% sure that you will be coming to the show!
The 6 exhibitor passes will first be offered to the people who's cars are on the stand. However if there are tickets left over, they will be offered to TMF members at a discounted price (to be decided). We have the option to buy 4 extra exhibitor passes which will allow people in early to help set the stand up. In case anyone was wondering I myself am not bringing my Mini, so I expect to pay the full entrance price.
The Organisation
Once the cars for the stand are confirmed, we will be in touch to find out when you will be arriving (Sat afternoon, sunday etc), the number of people in your car, and also to discuss the theme and how it will work (we already have a good idea of this which needs finalising!).
We aim to have one gazeebo at the show, and to get as many TMF members together at 13:00 for the traditional TMF group photoshoot!
The normal things are on offer, loads of trade stands, a Mini to raffle off (11k Mini Equinox) for £1 etc etc.
Thats about it!
Any questions or things I haven't covered (I'm sure there will be) then ask away

Thanks for reading
Tom
