I got myself a set of tailored subframes the other day at bingley so i could size them up for modification to fit my recaros in, has anyone used tailored subframes to fit recaros before?

it looks like i need to make some slight adjustments and possibly use a couple of bars to allow for the width of the seat mounting holes

anyone got any advice?

Cheers :)

you can fit ford seats with out a frame

doe they still have the lugs on them?

if so you weld 2 braket to the fron of the crosmeber with a bolt on it to line up with the front mounts on the seat then you bend the inboard rear mount to match the countour of the floor you can drill the floor and bolt them up using spreader plates

my mate dind even weld his he used stud bat right throught the cross member which worked in exactly the same way.

this way it mounts them nice and low and gives a good range of adjustment

this one is my idea to put a crossbar made from 4mm steel with 2 extra holes drilled to allow using the bits from the universal subframe kit, this would mean that no modification or drilling of the floor is needed and you could still refit the original seats at a later stage....can you see any problems with this idea? i'm thinking if make the holes big enough or have them milled out a little i can leave room for some adjustment too.

so did you make up the extra crossbars too? becuase the holes on my recaros are a bit too wide, which is annoying,

do you know anyone on TMF that could make the bars up for me, or where i can get hold of some 4mm metal strips so i could do it myself

i brought some 35mmx6mm metal strips from b&q drilled holes each side and then bolted these to the original seat runs then i used the bit that holds the seats in to the original seat moutings and bolted this to metal strips same with back these bits i took of the mini subframes i brought
hope this helps

hope all goes well happy to help you,buy the way the metal cost about £7.00 a strip 1 trip does one seat also i used 6mm bolts to bolt it all together as the metal is a pain in the arse to drill bigger holes unless you have a mega powerful drill

fitted em today, those metal strips worked a treat, my drill aint to shabby but I used small pilot holes then drilled them out to 8mm, but it was heavy going....dont think i could have done it without the £10 workbench i bought there too

Seats are so good! better than the ones in my old Clio 172, they really do hold you in place pretty well ;D
