Hi folks, .... this is a plea for assistance.
I am hoping that there is some kind soul out there who may have the
info I am looking for.

I am trying to track down an old copy of the build instructions (in
fact any documents drawings etc) for any of the Domino Cars - 'classic
Mini' based models.
They produced 5 types.. the Pimlico - Premiere - Saloon (the HT) - Cabrio - and the Pup (a pickup).

Does anyone have a copy, or know of anyone who built one of these over
the past 15-20 years and might have their old Build Instructions lying
around?

I will gladly pay for the photocopying and postage charges, or
contribute some beer tokens if someone could scan and email me
copies....

Thanks folks... I've got my fingers-crossed ...

I'm sorry I can't help you with build instructions, but from the little I know of fibreglass replicas it is usually a case of just bolting on parts from a donor vehicle.

In that respect, a good knowledge of the mini, together with a good Workshop Manual for the donor car should be all you need.

It may be that your model is totally different and there may be some bodywork assembly as well which you may need help with. Perhaps if you could pinpoint the individual problems you have, others may be able to help.

You could also read through the z cars forum, as I believe they use fibreglass shells.

Best of luck anyway, and please post your progress here. Piccies are usually a good crowd puller

.... agreed; .. but also :teehee: 'oops' and sorry, ..... I didn't explain.
It's not that I am new to Mini's. I bought my first in 1971, and have been building, modifying, and (in my earlier years) rallying/racing them since. It's that I am trying to locate any information relating to any of the Domino models, particularly anything technical.
When the original company went bust, (and long before it did so as well) it appears that much of the technical material was scrapped/thrown out/simply discarded by the Directorate who appeared to have a somewhat 'interesting' attitude towards the vehicles. As an outsider it always seemed to me to be a kind of love-hate thing, --- which I never quite understood; and which was witnessed some years back by the threats of legal action from the Board against the Domino Car Club. something which also contributed towards the clubs closure as folks got peed-off with the attitudes from Southampton.
As written, I am trying to gather what little technical information (plans, odd bits of drawings, instructions, build lists, etc) that may survive so as to create a central repository.

.... When I last spoke with Z-Cars (about October last) we were discussing using a Pimlico tub... I was of the impression during our discussions that they had never worked with a GRP tub (such as the Domino) before. They may have used an FRA shell on a spaceframe, but as far as I'm aware they haven't yet done anything with the Domino for a bike-engined conversion. I eagerly stand to be corrected though if someone knows better.

Best of luck anyway, and please post your progress here. Piccies are usually a good crowd puller

... Thanks for the good wishes. I may if folks are interested post some images of the work I'm doing on my 'town car'. It's a diesel-electric Mini running on Bio-Diesel. Still work in progress, ... but developing quite nicely. Biggest issue is the motor-efficiency. There are options to go for state-of-the-art motors...but they are generally way out of my price range (until I can find some in something like a wrecked hybrid for a reasonable price).

I dont know if it will be much help to you, but ABS motorsport are making the Domino HT, Domino Pick-Up, Domino Pimlico and Domino Premier shells.

Heres the link to their website, http://www.absmotors...s-c-35_315.html

Or you can send them a PM through the forum, his user name is body_stylist

Hopefully that might help you a bit.

Thanks for that, ... thats a very interesting snippet of information....

I tried the link but I presume their server is/was down for maintenance as it didn't respond, ... but certainly in November when I last spoke with John Chapman (MD of Composite Products - the latest name for the original Domino Cars company) he produced parts for me for our Domino's, was quoting me prices for the Pup (pickup) and gave no indication that he had subcontracted the bodies to someone else.

Is this something recent where ABS are producing these?

The Domino Cars are now NO LONGER AVAILABLE
The receivers have salvaged a selection of mould components, however there is not a complete set for any of the models. It appears that they have been destroyed and skipped.
Therefore, no bodyshells can be produced.

Hi,

I would be really interested in a copy of those, (either paying for copy/scan and postage, or even buying what you have)... as you can probably guess from the sig... I am rebuilding any of the information relating to the Domino range. I bought what was left of the assets of Domino/Composite Design (any 'complete items' with the odd bit'n'piece for good measure) from the Receiver (contrary to the answer posted earlier by someone else the Domino 'brand' does still exist and the missing elements of the moulds are in the process of being remanufactured, including some of the original 'accessories' such as bumpers and targa-roof shells) and I am keen to rebuild any collateral of the range including documentation, plans, etc to make generally available.

If you could bear to part with the docs/plans (or copies of) then please let me know. You can reply here - or direct to dominocars-org-uk.

Regards
Ian
