It happened! and i cant believe it. coming home from my girlfriends today, going easy doing 50 in a national zone. come round a corner and theres a broken down lorry on the other side of the road and a van on my side stopped to let others through. i apply my brakes and all seems to be fine, didnt think i was braking very hard. next thing i know im not slowing down anymore and realise i must have locked up just in time for me to brace for a collision. went straight into the back of a van, completely totalled. didnt even hear the tyres squeal

thankfully im not hurt. my mum who's a nurse says i should be fine, the guy in the van was really nice to me. got the mini recovered to outside my house awaiting insurance things to happen. but shes a complete write off. fronts completely crumpled through the wings, a panels and windscreen panel. doors no longer close and gears jammed. pictures speak for themself really. all i can say is im devastated. like most if not all of you ive poured thousands in to her and sweat blood and tears. it breaks my heart to see what ive done to her. and just as life was looking up, bit of money and looking for a 1275 to play with. well, safe to say those plans have almost literally gone out the window now. dont know what ill do next, but im not letting her go. one day she will roar again. but for now, from:

ouch

The main thing is that you're ok though. Keep an eye on things over the next couple of days and if you start to feel any pain then get yourself seen to, hopefully your mum will help on that side of things though :dozing:

As for the Mini, it looks quite poorly, and I'll agree with you and say that the shell could well be scrap, however if you have a decent agreed valuation on the car I'm sure something can be done.

Now comes the battle with the insurance company (if you go down that route), of all the possible advice I would say don't let them take your car, keep hold of it no matter what!

thanks. unfortunately no agreed valuation on it. couldnt get it as im too young so its going to be a very very hard struggle with the insurance company. i couldnt even choose on reputation either, was forced to go for the cheapest as i simply dont have the money. infact still owe my dad £900 from insurance. but whatever happens they are not getting my baby. ill fight to the death to keep her!

as long as the rest of the shell is ok (though you mentioned the doors not closing) a flip front and new gearbox/engine could possibly sort it. Just remeber that you can replace the cars parts, but not your own. Good luck with the situation

Oli that's a terrible shame mate.

Glad you're not hurt though, which is the most important thing.

A Mini can be fixed/replaced, but a person can't always be fixed and never replaced.

I hope it all works out okay with the insurance.

Get someone in a body shop to put it on a jig or body dozzer and pull the front out. When the doors will close the rest is all just panelwork mate. Not what you want to hear I know but It could be MUCH worse. Hope you sort it out. Looked nice as well.

Lol i was about to say flipfront as well!

unfortunately not quite so simple. windscreen panels bent and the sills have crumpled slightly so i'd guess the floor pans have bent too. so who knows how far back the damage has gone. probably a lot easier reshelling to a relatively rust free mini and trying to transfer the reg if thats possible. id love to keep the same shell and try to keep her as 'her' as possible but i just dont think its possible
