Just got a quote of £51.84 PM, for a Peugeot 106 1.5d, compared to £80.31 for my astra 1.4 8v. Tax is the same price.

There's some advantage to getting old. Mini 1000, £85 per year!

LOL. The cheapest I've got my mini insurance is £400-£500. The astra is £955 per year. :(

I have a 40 day old beard and was wearing a bandana. I also have a stare like Nigel Benn. The driver was very apologetic and, if I'm being honest, looked a bit frightened! No damage or pain so all good.

Is there a cheaper alternative to the rubbish cardboard battery protector? Need one for my MPi and they're a pretty penny! :(

-
Steve220
They're a terrible design. Just bin it and get a battery box to fit in there.

Its the same for any Mini Project, you fall out with it, then one day, you go for a drive and remember why you love them!

I'm driving it now and im warming to it, bouncier than i remember haha... but if the mini breaks... that might be the final straw!

dumb question... does the STD heater only re-circulate cabin air through the drivers vent?

-
Steve220
I got rid of mine. I take the risk that the vent will fill with leaves etc. But I only drive it when its bone dry anyway.

Thanks for the input guys, funnily enough the reason I was asking was due to steamy windows! The vent seems to work perfectly well, but as I said when I have the heater on the airflow is reduced and the sound of the fan changes like it is working harder if I shut the vent in the car - on a side note, if the heater is running with the vent open no air cones out of the vent... Might video it tomorrow as to better demonstrate! :) also, I picked up some rain x the other day... H...

I think your ears could tell you that. I wouldn't worry, my 998s been givven death with poorly valve seals for 3 years and about 20k now and other Tha the obvious blue smoke runs fine.

The seal might be different, but it will fit. However a decent mk2 boolid will be worth a few quid, not easy to find!
