I have just received a parcel. It contained 1000 rivets. I know how to rock.

That's a riveting story.

You was gunning for the punch line. It's a pressing issue. :)

Managed to get the second cylinder head off the Stag. Been sitting for 29 years and only had trouble with one stud.

They're*. Depends what you want out of the car. I've just ordered a set of 13x7 ultralites as I love the look, grip is massively improved with the wider wheels although some say you lose the feel.

I suppose the only problem i've had is the wheels rub on my wide arches when I reverse at full lock. Doesn't matter that much.
But they do look a lot better in my opinion.

Additional fusebox wired in and extra fan for radiator all wired up. Starting to tick things off the list ready for L2B!!!

Wiring in an extra cooling fan for L2B last year was the best thing I did. No way my car would've made it otherwise!

Not so much luck with the stag engine today. One stud...the last stud wouldn't come out, so I'll try again tomorrow.

see status below, I'm sure it covers stags as well

That was me too. I'm beginning to see a pattern with my projects. Buy a second mini, move it aside to work on third mini.
Minis are boring, play with the stag instead.

Hopefully I will go full circle and get back onto the first mini

True what they say, when the mini is p!ssing you off no end, walk away, come back to it another day and hey presto things work again ... now I just need a shotgun to drain some of the water from it ...

You could come over, go down in a non-mini and meet everyone down there
Apr 09 2015 09:16 AM -

I'm considering that

The best part of a night shift? Driving home in clear traffic whilst the opposite side is rammed, getting home and getting straight into bed. Good morning!

-
Vinay-RS
Yeah, modern cars are better mile munchers, but late night driving on empty roads is so much fun in a mini. Surely an MPi is much more luxurious that an older mini?

I used to love coming back from work at 2300, dark clear roads in a mini = great fun

Just finished removing a Triumph Stag head (with the dreaded studs) Came off with no problems at all :) Another one tomorrow.

Good luck. Stuck head killed my stag engine!

What makes this so bad was that my dad parked up an immaculate stag some 20 years ago after restoring it, with a fully rebuilt engine on just 2000 miles. Now it's in a pretty poor state and the engine is seized.
Every year he says he's going to get it running again but I've had enough of that so I've decided to start for him.

I had two 10 ton bottle jacks across the vee, engine hoist on the head, wheels off the ground and jackhammer on the stud head. Like this for 10 days. Managed to get 5 thou feeler under the head. Pal in stag club did a swap out for a good recon engine. He drilled out the studs with some fancy jig he had. Lovely car but a bugger of an engine.
