Mini Cheddars
Had fuel stolen from me once again, and the cap. Got the car back from the workshop after 2 months off the road. Couldn't park in my rented garage last night as I couldn't get the door handle out. So parked outside mine for the first time since getting the back, and the thieves struck again. Swear it's been about 10 times in the almost 5 years I've owned the Mini. Getting slightly annoying!

See above. Nowhere to mount it. :( I live in rented accommodation from a housing association. Don't think I'd be able to start drilling through the brick wall.

You can mount it to a lamp post(ask your council) this will possibly reduce the insurance

If your window faces the car sit one on the window sil , I've got two from ebay they look like alarm remotes a bit primitive but they do a good job , u could also put one with a motion censor in the car , have a look on ebay they are peanuts for what they do .

Just been to friends' house for the afternoon & their 2yr old would not stop shouting/screaming/crying. So glad that a) we're not having any kids and b) we're now back home.

Does anyone know of a way to find out an engine number if it's been machined off? :(

-
Ben_O
Do you know the history of the engine? Like the car it came out of?

All the DVLA really need to know is the CC of the new engine. If there's no engine number, you can make one up and get it stamped on a plate, or stamped into the block. As long as there's a way of verifying that the engine listed is fitted to the car. But I'd just tell DVLA the new capacity.

No idea of history or anything like that and no - not what came with the car. Something ive been asked to see if you lot knew in the off chance. Thanks all!

He explained the reason for giving oversills as an advisory was because it sits on top of the original body rather than in it.

While the car was jacked up he got this big stick and wedged it under the tyre and tried to lift the wheel, but it hardly moved. He then showed me the same thing on the OSR and the wheel lifted right up.
