Generally, how long do tyres last? Not talking about wear - the rubber in general. How long can they stay on a car before they should be replaced?

I think it's also dependant on how it's stored. If it's in rain etc then not as long as in a dry garage. Also if it's got any weight on it while flat.

Manufacturers recommend 6 years. I'd say longer if it's been kept in a warm, dark room

Hahaha. It's actually surprisingly hard to drag 4 hours of meetings out for a full day! Needless to say, I had a very long lunch :)

Does anyone else want to heave when they see a picture of the Iceland 5 bird roast?

-
The Matt
Multi-bird roasts are not something to do on the cheap.
They're at their best with Puffin, Parrot and Pheasant in the mix!

'Not something to do on the cheep' :-). I think Iceland is probably, vulture, seagull, crow, pigeon and various misc. roadkill.

my mates van kept going into limp mode but only when it was wet, I said bare or dodgey wiring earthing out, but took it to garage who charged for injectors clean, ecu remap, sensors, 1500 quid and two days later it turned out to be a loose wire on fog light, month later month later had probs not starting, loads of parts and time plus another 1500 quid it was a damaged wire in stearing colum,

I've got a dick of a neighbour with a Volvo c30 that kept going into limp home mode and not idling, £400 for a new throttle pedal and it was still doing it. I suggested something stupidly simple and cheap, that maybe the throttle body could do with a clean out with some carb cleaner. But As I'm not working and apparently 'only' work on minis, what do I know? He later then paid someone else another £200 to come out to do a diagnostics check. Which came back with nothi...

I don't think it is only women who these people try to cheat. Unless you look like a mechanic, a lot of them will probably try and con you. Solution, grease up your hands and wear overalls and steel toed boots when you take your car in :)
