What's the going rate for a 1275 engine these days? seen one for sale for £200, complete with gearbox etc, but hasn't been running for 4 years and isn't seized...was apparently running perfect before removal.

Around that price unfortunately mate. When buying an engine just assume that it will need a full rebuild.

Wahhh! £200 is cheap! Sure some people are selling them for close to twice as much as that, everyone is after 1275s atm.

Was driving along today and someone flashed their lights at me; was getting dark so I thought it was because my lights weren't on. Then I notice my bonnet flapping around... what could cause the bonnet to un-latch?

Jacking up wouldnt do it unless your shell is very weakened by rust or bad repairs, the Mini shell is very stiff :) Sure you closed it properly haha

last time you opened the bonnet you may have bent the pin slightly, bend it back make sure it all mates up when closing push firmlty down and try and tug the bonnet up once closed

Just got my car back from the people over at Gloucester-mini.co.uk and just here to say how happy I am with the work they have done on my car. Not only is the work amazing quality, but also they were so helpful when it came down to what had to be done to the car! The speed at which they worked at was amazing and had my car done in under a week with some very major work done and a lot of rust cleaned out, during the work they also sent me images of the work, which kept me up to date with w...

as usual, check for rust and don't be afraid of poking around underneath and under carpets. They shouldn't mind if they don't have anything to hide. If everything checks out mechanically, document wise and the price is right, then go for it
