I have a few quesions
1. what if any are the differences between a normal HIF44 carb and a "turbo" one is it just differnt springs in the dashpot and needle or is there more to it than that
2. If the spring in the dashpot is different what is it? and does anyone know what sort of pressure it is?
3. Does anyone know what needle id be best to use as a starting point for a
1380 wih 11cc dished pistons
276 cam
eaton m45 supercharger with stage 4 head..

i know you cnt give me a needle just from that spec but if theres anyone out there who has a simlar setup and who could give me a rough general idea of what to start with needle wise then i can take it from there on he dyno.
thanks alot

Can't help on 2 or 3, but on no.1, there are quite a few differences on the turbo carb - they have seals on the throttle spindle to stop boost getting out, a clamp round the dashpot damper piston top to stop it making a bid for freedom and (I think - not 100% on this one) an additional port in the casting to pressurise the float chamber (so that the fuel doesn't get pushed back up the pipe by the boost!). The Metro turbo plenum chamber is also quite important in communicating the correct boost signal to the float chamber (and in turn giving the correct fuelling).

Hope this helps,

JR

If your SC is a suck through system you don't need a turbo spec, sealed carb. Though any Hif can be modified to suit blow through use. You could look on Turbominis there may be some examples of SC or suck through turbos. Otherwise look for a normally aspirated engine that produces similar power and use it as a starting point, a B Series perhaps?
