Model:Mini Cooper Sport
Year:2000
Description of problem: When my wipers, wipe they make a loud screeching noise, sometimes it gets better, particularly the more you use them.
They operate smoothly except where they reach the park position where sometimes they stop and then drop down the last half inch or so. Also sometimes they park and then jump up and inch a second later. One other think, which I guess is an electrical contact issue, but when I turn the end of the control stalk to intermittant and then back to off the wipers sometimes keep going for maybe 2 or 3 wipes, when it should not do this.

Whats the best course of action? There is plenty of good grease in the motor. I guess it maybe the wheel boxes? When I take the whole thing apart can I grease the cabel easily in the guide tube? Is it easy to remove the guide tube from the motor?

Cheers.

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

I had a similar problem - was the park switch. Also, as for the screeching noise, sometimes if the screen is not wet enough they can screech (blades get stuck temporarily, causing a vibration and hence a noise)

its also probably partially seized wheelboxes. = They can make noises; well mine did at least; took one off it wouldn't spin, the same story with the other one. A couple days immersed in engine oil soon sorted them.
