Gear Selector Removal

right, in the process of removing the engine as we speak, only problem is weve got to the bit under the car tryin to remove the two rods that go to the gear box and we cnt/dont know how to remove one or bvoth the pins that hold the rod in place to the gearbox, weve hired out a hoist today an i dnt want to have wasted money, so all ideas are welcome, its one of the last things for us to do and i need help badly

put gearbox into reverse, and remove the roll pin gearbox end using a punch and hammer...

Try the flat end of a drill bit - needs to be the same ish size as the pin or a bit smaller, but not too small to spread the pin apart.

you need something hard, about 4 or 5 mm diameter. idealy a parallel punch or somthing similar.

mine was a *horrid woman* to get out. ended up making a tool, nice and long so i didnt have to do it from under the car.
u need to shock it, and it will come easy. anything too soft and it absorbs the shock too much and it wont budge.

If it is particularly stubborn try wedging a piece of wood behind it to keep it solid
