
Removing Rear Valance And Rear Bumper Lip

I want to remove the rear valance and also the rear bumper lip, and was just wondering what would be the best way to do it? Cut off the valance then deseam or deseam then remove rear valnce just under weld?

the valance is mainly help on by the bumper lip, its where the boot hinge panel and the valne meet and are then spot welded.
chop off the valnce and then just grind off the lip if thats the way you want to go. no welding need.

And watch the boot floor collapse

The boot floor is also part of the seam and you cannot just grind the lip off without welding. If you do your rear panel and boot floor will no longer be attatched to anything.

Use normal deseaming technique, cut 4", miss 4" accross the car, seam weld without lip, then do other half.
Grind smooth, fill, smooth, and repaint.

the boot floor and rear arches are soon to be comeing out too.

What's the reason for wanting to run no valance mate? as said, no valance looks really stupid, even on race cars.
Debumpering however, looks very cool
Rear valance causes drag, will only be running a 998 so want to try and remove as many drag factors and weight as possible.

ill be running a 160+ bhp turbo engine in my track day car.
principle still remains.
Off topic but do you have any problems or reliability issues with you turbo? Also do you get much turbo lag on the track? Will possibly be turboing my 998, just after more info to make a final decision.

i dont know, its sat on my garage floor waiting for gear box bits.
turbo engine can last well, just dont floor them all the time.
as for lag the turbo i will be useing is a gt22. it should be fine.

Ive cut mine off and I love the look, nice n clean subbie and also it shows off my rear arb off a treat lol
Have you removed the bumper aswell or is it just not shown in the drawing? If so could you post a pic please just so i can get a better idea of what it will look like.
