does anyone have a knock off version of the kad lift up reverse style quick shift, i have heard they "dont work" according to minits who i spoke to earlier today, im sure this is an exageration, to say they "dont work" seems very unlikley. i assume he means they are not so easy in operation or not so positive on engagemnt of gears, i (unwisely) bought a knock of version of the early type quick shift years ago and it never felty like it was in 2nd gear, i just learned to trust that is was in even though it didnt feel like it.

anyway, any opinions welcome, just please try to validate your comments with why you feel they are/arnt very good, thanks guys, i know you will have the answers!

They're cheap for a reason. The little plastic ball on the end of it has to be sanded down to get the lever to fit and work.

I've got the genuine KAD one and its great! Very well made, fitted fine out of the box and has works flawlessly!

the groove for the clip that holds the small ball on wasn't deep enough, mr dremel sorted that out, it's bang on now :)

Yep same story as all the other guys. Originally i had a cheapo one and it didnt work sanded the ball on the end down and eventually got it to work!!

However not happy with it i forked out for a KAD one and it is a beautiful piece! Again unfortunatly it didnt fit properly but in all fairness to KAD this was nothing to do with their quickshift it was to do with an engine steady that i had which put the engine at a different angle, and therefore i couldnt get some of the gears. A few modifications and now it works awesome!

All in all if you can afford it get the KAD one! And the new ones come with a grease nipple that allows you to grease it periodically as well!
