I put in new tappet chest seals, new waterpump gasket, and a few other bits. I tightened a few bolts that some muppet had undone on the bottom of the motor.
Then I fill it up with oil after re-fitting everything and,
I CAN FINALLY SEE WHERE THE OIL IS COMING FROM
Its down to 6 drops a minute, not about 15 like it was.......
Its great when you spend 2 days fixing a leak to finally fill it up and see it coming out the bottom when you are still filling
It WAS the seal on one of the CV pot things, as you were all saying. That is tomorrow's work, if I can get one from a motor factors

the seal on the inner cv's going is often the sign that there is worse behind. Apparently the seal fits inside the diff end covers which in turn has a bronze bush. When this bush goes wrong (wears) it leads itself to leaking oil prefusely and no number of new rubber outer seals will sort it.

I have disturbed the seals quite a lot and should have replaced them before. Lets hope its not anything more. Not til after dragwars when I have a new 998 lined up :erm:
