Hi All,

I am building a hill climb / sprint / road Mini (the road bit is a bit of a joke with 12.5:1 compression & full race cam) - should be ready early next year. Everything but the rims are sorted and I'm having trouble getting some info from suppliers etc..... They don't seem to grasp that although I come from a convict colony (Australia) I am happy and willing to pay for freight etc to get some good quality lightweight new rims. But I won't part with my money without knowing how much a rim weighs in Kg.

I like the look of Revolution 4 spoke and the Minilight type of rims all in 10X6 as I am running the Works flares with the telf tapping screws on a MK1 - but no-one will tell me how much they weigh in Kg. Can anyone here help?

Cheers,

Kuzzy in Oz

if you want a light set, get the kad magnesium wheels! On a more sensible note, any split rim will be lighter than a cast wheel, as they have less material and are designed to be light

the common 100+ brand of used minilites are pretty light for a standard road wheel, come in 5 and 6x10's

Looked at the Image Wheels site - smallest is 13" - bummer!

Would love to know the weight of GB's - they are on the shortlist.

I have tried contacting Reveloution wheels a few weeks ago about the weights, no luck.

KADs Magnesium wheels are the lightest in a 10x6 - weighing in at about 2.1kg each IIRC. They are however, about £300 a wheel, though if you join TMF+ then you get a discount with KAD - 5%.

Look at Specialist Components, John Kimmins is a very decent bloke to deal with and his split rims are dead nice.
