ive stripped my floor to bare metal
would it be better to use por15 then a top coat?
or should i use something such as red oxide primer then por 15 then a topcoat.
or do i need to use an etching primer first
ive also got the acid por15 stuff could i use that to etch the metal then use red oxide then por15.
i know confusing isnt it
basically im not sure what the process is for the underside with regards to what to use to paint it but due to not having electricity bar a genny i cant use any spray equipment.
so im stuck with rattle cans or brushes,
any help much appreciated

Etch prime, stonechip, prime, top coat.
Etch will go off in minutes.
Stonechip wants a day to go off on a large area like that.
Then Id be tempted to use wet on wet primer so you can top coat it straight away. Rather than trying to flat primer on a textured surface like stonechip!
Once thats all done and gone off nicely I'd clear waxoyl it. But dont be spraying any wax around till the shell is painted too!

Is it inside the car or outside? If outside use por 15 metal prep first and work this into any rusty areas, let it dry and then paint on por 15 as per instructions, be careful and wear gloves and googles as it sticks to your skin like stink on sh*t!! You now have a choice, leave it to dry and just leave it that way but if you do be aware that it will go cloudy over time but will still be protecting your floor,or, as it gets tacky, you can spray on some underseal and leave the whole thing a day or two to dry, I did it this way and it seems to be lasting very well, 2 years later and not flaking off anywhere. Or you can leave the por15 to dry and paint over it with body colour paint or whatever you choose, but you will either have to sand the por15 first to key it for any top coats or buy the special primer that allows you to paint on top coats without sanding, you can't just paint over the por15 without either sanding or by using the special primer or it will just flake off. If inside the car just do the same, metal prep, por15, sand or special primer then top coat, don't use underseal inside the car!!
