Hiya,

From speaking to people I found out that a leaking windscreen is quite common on mini's or maybe its just my car. I replaced my windscreen when I first got the car with a new windscreen rubber but found out that it was leaking from both bottom corners so out came the kitchen towel n I have to stuff it in the corners to soak up the water.

A few weeks ago I had the wind screen taken out again and had sealant put around the inside of the rubber, where the glass sits. I was told it should hopefully push the glass out a little and stop the leak.

Unfortunately this did not work either so I have had to go back to the kitchen towel solution for now

I was wondering if any one new of anything else I could do to try and stop the leak. I'm unsure if it is to do with the rubber maybe being a pattern part so not fitting as well as it should but didn't think you could get heritage or original window rubbers.

Any suggestion would be extremely appreciated as at the minute I am having to dry my nice new carpet out under neither the floor pan every time it rains :-

Many Thanks
Aaron

Its possible the water is getting in between the frame and the rubber not the glass and the rubber, you say you put sealant on the inside edge, but not the outside edge.

Some thing like this may be worth a try, the leak may actually be further up the screen as well, but is finding its way to the lowest points.

hi the problem you are have is common. you can only seal the screen when its in the rubber

go to yr local windscreen company and ask for some arbomass sealer

then remove the filler strip place the nozzle of the sealer in the rubber where it meets teh window and go the whole way round the sealer should ouze out then do the same rubber to body work tehn you replace the filler strip and clean off excess sealer

or i could do this 4 you at te cost of ten pounds and your travel to essex near dartford bridge

if you need any more help pm me

A friend of mine from the RAC fitted the windscreen and he put a black coloured sealant between the rubber and the glass when the windscreen was in place but not the between the rubber and the body work.

I think this is why it may be leaking.

Is arbomass sealer this black coloured sealant that he used when fitting the windscreen?
