Hello guys...

just bought another all in one computer.... picked up from the guy.. had a quick look around it... and it was a bit grubby and needed a clean.

got it back... and ive realised that there is a 6 inch scratch across the protective surface on the screen..
its made like this...

and the scratch is def only in the perspex protector.... any ideas how i could get this scratch out? it doesnt look that deep but when running my nail across it.. i can feel it... just.

It may not be perspex. there are plastic polishes and even stuff like toothpaste works quite well, but to polish the scratch out you'd be removing plaggy that would cause some distortion if it wasn't equal across the whole surface.

Is there no way of replacing the screen? Have you thought about buffering the screen to try and remove the scratch that way with some heavy duty polish that removes light scratching?

You can remove scratches from most plastic with carfull buffing. If you can feel it with your nail, it will probably need to be done with a machine polisher rather than by hand, which would take forever.
Polishing compounds, t-cut, brasso, toothpaste....the product depends on the plastic type and the depth of the scratch.

To do it properly, you will need to take the plastic out and lay it flat on a table. If you go to the effort of dismantling it, it may be easier to just replace te plastic rather than mess with the old one.

umm its an all in one machine and it looks very tricky.. ive just replaced the keyboard which has taken just under an hour.
so i think the screen might be tricky

i could try a polish.. i havent yet.. but i can... any recommendations??

I dunno if it will work on plastic, i will have a look for you tonight, but we use a type off buffering polish called G3 but i do not know it if is suitable for that material.

How about adding another film of plaggy over the top?

because you may be able to seen.. tis a cosmetic peice of plastic.
and this sits as a cover over everything else.
