Model: Matilda Cooper
Year: 2000
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):

I have no idea why, but in the last couple of weeks Matilda has found a rent in the fabric of time & is gradually nudging her way through it.

For some reason her clock is getting progressively slower. This morning, it was 45 minutes behind. Yesterday was 30 minutes approximately. All other dials are fine, and dash lights are fine. Could this just be a loose connection at the clock itself, or are there greater Universal forces at work? :dontgetit:

If so, how me fix? Please?

;D

Wow - it's lasted 8 years! Mum's started doing that at just over 4 years old! We tried loads of stuff on the connections and the like on hers but ended up having to replace the clock.

Seems to be. Dilithium crystals are running low, though. ;D

Hi Jonnymm,

Unfortunatley the only fix would be to replace - of course if you buy 2nd hand you may have the same problem. The problem seems to be with the clocks that have the adjuster in the centre of the clcok and you turn it with your finger - is this the case for you ? i replaced mine with the slightly earlier (1997/98) version, which has an actual BUTTON to advance the time. If you are looking on ebay etc, the button is at about 5 o clock, you press and hold it and the clock advances. these types of clock seem a lot more stable/accurate. mine was perfect, but is ageing - it GAINS 5 mins every MONTH - no where near as bad as yours losing 30 mins in a day. I would reccomend this slightly older design - still magnolia, matches the other dials

HTH
Ryan.

Mine's been doing exactly the same thing for the last three or four years (it's also a 2000, with the centre control). Seems to be a feature! They come up VERY infrequently on eBay and go for a lot of cash normally, which would suggest the problem is pretty widespread. I tried to get a genuine rover replacement and was quoted over £100. At present I'm still just living with it (tends to keep time while the engine's running, and I mostly use my car for UK holidays which involve long motorway drives, so it's not too bad). If anyone does come up with a way of fixing it, please post!

I've got the earlier push button type in my '96 Mpi and that loses roughly five minutes a month. I'll have to take it to bits one day to see what's causing it. As far as I'm aware, they're not adjustable.

Regarding your problem, you could always disconnect the clock completely - then at least it'd be correct twice a day!

Good luck,

Kwack

Remember I warned everyone about time dilation effects with the Large Hadron Collider, well now we're seeing evidence, looks like JuJu will be the first to be sucked in...
