Simple question... How often is it a mini crabs? I know mine does quite a bit... and i seem to see alot that do as well. Is it a common thing?

Obviously if its the shell twisted thats going to be hard to fix. How would it affect the replacement of subframes, sills etc? (may need to replace my sills soon..)

Thats all! ;)

sounds like your mini has ether been in a crash or rust repairs have been carried out badly

if your trying to fit a square frame in a twisted mini you might struggle

this might be a better in the body work section

mini seem to crab from behind because they are wedge shape.... wider at the front.

drive behind a mini to the left and it appears to crab to the left, drive to the right and it appears to crab to the right.

you really need to eliminate this "optical illusion" before you waste anymore time worrying about it ;)

you may be best to measure the wheel base between the wheels ie front and
rear to see if one side is closer than the other, if it is different either side then ether
a subframe is fitted wrong or twisted or it's been in a prang.. or evan had a bad repair
as stated above..

Ok, i'm aware of the shifty mini and its mythological crabbing abilities so im quite qure its not that. Been behind when its been driven, but will double check anyway. Does crabbing usually affect handling? Its the first mini i've had so i havent got anything to reference against, if this ones not crabbing then i shall re-consider buying a new shell... Whats the easiest way to check?

It would normally over steer in one direction and under steer in the other; also the tyres would wear unevenly as they are being dragged along and not running true.

You could try and see if you could get the tracking looked at with a 4 wheel alignment system.

Might help, if it is out of true one meathead I’ve used on the project is to place shims between the heal board and subfame and enlarge some of the holes in the radius arm brackets slightly.
